Friends in Need handed out brand new hats, gloves, and scarves at our Newark, NJ feeding program last Sunday (Dec. 11) and this Saturday (Dec. 17) we will be handing them out at our NYC feeding program! A warm THANK YOU to the Center for Pranic Healing for sponsoring this initative this year!

Sponsor A Child: Holiday Gift Giving for Kids with Autism and Multiple Disabilities
NOTE: To donate, Please use PAYPAL (until we resolve some technical issues).
In the last 3 years, Friends in Need has been participating in the Holiday Gift Giving for the kids at Phoenix Center (located in Nutley, New Jersey). These children have autism and multiple disabilities AND most of them come from disadvantaged families, so what they receive from this program is a major event for them!
Join us make a happy event for these kids and sponsor a child (or two)! The kids have already given their Santa list! There are 2 ways to do the sponsorship:
1) Let us know how many kids you want to sponsor, we give you their list and you can buy the present yourself or
2) Make a donation to Friends in Need (online www.friendsinneedusa.org and click on Paypal button), and we will allocate your donation specific to this program.
The average price of the presents is $22. If you decide to do the shopping, we would need the presents by December 12. If you opt to make a donation to this program, we would appreciate if we receive your donations by December 5. This will give us time to shop as well!

San Fernando Valley (CA) Families
This past Saturday, July 10, Friends in Need held its first lunch program at 2 housing units in the San Fernando Valley area. We’ve also given books, toys, shirts to those present. It was a success and everyone is looking forward to the August barbecue!

California
This month (April), Friends in Need started a feeding program in Ontario, California, held every Friday at 6 pm in ‘Tent City’. Friends in Need will also start to provide lunch for families in need in the San Fernando Valley area, starting April 25. We are all excited to continue to expand our programs!

NY Blizzard
Despite the blizzard experienced in NY (total of 36 inches in Manhattan), we still handed out meals to about 170 people! Rain, sleet, or snow, (and 100% humidity), our program continues.

Friends in Need in California
For the upcoming holidays, Friends in Need is fulfilling holiday wish lists from more than 100 children in the San Fernando Valley area. Families will be given food packages as well.
These families we are supporting have successfully transitioned from being homeless, although a little bit more assistance is needed.

Holiday Programs 2009
Winter essential give aways. We’re giving winter essentials (hats, gloves, socks) in all the areas where we hold feeding programs. See our Locations & Schedules page for specific locations and times.
Gift Giving at the Phoenix Center, NJ, a school for children age five through twenty-one with autism, emotional challenges and multiple disabilities.
Coat drive in New Jersey for Newark, NJ
Christmas presents and food packages in California. Friends in Need has adopted approximately 50 formerly homeless families and will be providing Christmas presents for the children and food packages for each family.
